Naturopathy vs Homeopathy

We are frequently asked what the difference is between naturopathic medicine and homeopathic medicine. Naturopathic medicine is a broad "umbrella" term for many forms of natural healthcare, including herbal medicines, nutritional guidance, vitamin and mineral supplementation, physical manipulation, midwifery, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathic medicine, and others. All of these therapies are aimed at stimulating the body's own ability to heal itself. Vis medicatrix naturae, the healing power of nature, is a guiding principle.

Homeopathic medicine exists both under the umbrella of naturopathic medicine and as a separate discipline unto itself, practiced by many different types of healthcare providers.

Homeopathic medicine is included in the scope of practice for licensed Naturopathic Doctors in Washington state.
